Our Photography Policy

Updated: Nov 16

We've all seen the signs: "No Phones on the Rink!" And for good reason—safety is paramount when you're moving at speed on wheels. But when it comes to banning photography entirely from a roller disco event, RollerXpress allows the cameras to roll. Why keep the flash on instead of enforcing a complete blackout? It comes down to celebrating the experience, promoting the fun, and trusting our community.

1. The Power of Promotion and Nostalgia

Our roller disco is a visual goldmine. We offer a bright, vibrant, retro, and utterly unique indoor disco environment. When skaters and parents take photos and videos, they capture a memory, experience and the beginning of a new skill.

  • Free Buzz: We encourage the use and sharing of social media. RollerXpress has been built in an organic, slow growth model and for every user sharing they have enjoyed their time at a low-cost social-sporting activity, we have achieved our goal to increase participation of Roller Skating and engage with the community at every level.

  • Archiving the Awesome: Roller Disco is all about creating memories. Photos serve as precious souvenirs, cementing that moment of joy, those dazzling outfits, and the camaraderie for years to come. Banning them would mean denying people the chance to archive their night of groovy fun.

2. Trusting Our Community to Be Mindful

Instead of implementing a heavy-handed ban, RollerXpress has established clear guidelines and rely on attendees' common sense and respect.

  • Safety Rules Are Enough: By strictly enforcing a "No phones on the Rink" policy, we address the primary danger: distraction and falls while skating. This keeps the skating floor safe while still allowing photography from the sidelines.

  • The Golden Rule of Consent: We trust our guests to adhere to the fundamental rule of respect: ask before you snap a close-up of a stranger. A culture of consent is far better than a culture of prohibition.

3. The Atmosphere of Freedom

Roller discos are places to let loose, express yourself, and embrace the inner child (or inner '80s pop star). A total ban on photography can feel restrictive and diminish that atmosphere of freedom and spontaneous fun.

While we wholeheartedly encourage everyone to put their phone away for a while and truly be in the moment, we also understand the innate human desire to capture and share joy.

The solution isn't to ban the cameras, but to skate safe, snap smart, and let the good times roll!

Keep your phone off the rink, be respectful of others' privacy, and enjoy capturing the electric energy of the roller disco.
